Girl found dead

RAWALPINDI, Aug 12: A two-year-old girl, who went missing after her father left her alone for a few moments while visiting Samarzar Colony on Sunday, was found dead at the bank of a nullah on Monday.

Since the girl went missing, her parents and relatives started a house-to-house search and combed the surrounding areas as well.

After failing to find her, the girl’s parents sought police assistance. A kidnapping case was registered on Sunday night and her parents were told that investigations would start next morning.

Next day, the girl’s parents brought sniffer dogs which led the police to a home in Samarzar Colony. They took three residents of the house into custody.

Meanwhile, passersby spotted the girl’s body close to where the girl’s father had parked his bike.

The police shifted it to the DHQ hospital for postmortem.

“Circumstances show that the girl drowned after slipping into the nullah,” SI Qamar Javaid said.

He added that evidence and postmortem report suggested she had not been tortured.

However, the police are interrogating the three inmates of the house in connection with possible drowning of the girl.—Staff Reporter
