PARIS, May 20: Fourteen of France’s foremost scientific and technical police specialists in anti-terrorism have been at work along with Moroccan investigators since Friday evening in investigating the series of explosions in Casablanca that took the lives of 41 persons, including three French citizens.
At least one member of the Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire (DST), the French equivalent of the American FBI, has also been called in to assist Moroccan police and military investigating the attacks.
“It’s a two-way street,” notes a French anti-terrorism source familiar with France’s participation in the Moroccan investigation. “Morocco is calling us in because of our experience in the field of terrorism, notably with regard to the Maghreb countries, and then, as far as we’re concerned, the experience will be welcome for it will allow us to learn more about the ‘new face’ of international terrorism. “
