KARACHI, May 16: The grand rally at Nishtar Park, which was held in connection with the Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) on Thursday, endorsed the latest initiative of Pakistan-India dialogue to resolve Kashmir issue.
The proposed talks were backed in one of the resolutions adopted at the rally, held under the auspices of Jamaat Ahle Sunnat and presided over by Allama Shah Turab-ul-Haque. The participants were addressed by Kokab Noorani Okarvi, Haji Hanif Tayyeb, Iftikhar Bhatti, Abrar Rehmani, Hanif Blue and several other leaders.
The resolution termed Pakistan’s conditional offer of dismantling its nuclear programme ‘inappropriate’ saying that Pakistan appeared to be the only Islamic country blessed with this deterrent by the Allah Almighty. The nuclear programme, it added, should be utilized to further enhance the country’s economic, educational, scientific and technological capabilities so that no enemy could dare cast an evil eye on Islam.
The rally called upon the government to assume more power to protect the nuclear programme in order to rid the nation of any pressure from the US, Europe and certain international institutions.
Through another resolution, the rally expressed concern over increasing incidents of theft, dacoity, killings and terrorism. It demanded appropriate measures to check terrorism and crime. It further demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to those involved in such activities.
The rally condemned occupation of Iraq by the US-UK forces and their allies. It regarded the US move to rule out possibility of establishing an Islamic government in Baghdad and trampling over Islamic values there as ‘anti-Islam instance’. A resolution adopted on this issue warned Muslims around the world in general and rulers of all Islamic countries in particular to wake up from slumber otherwise the US and Israel would take over resources of all other countries gradually and slowly as they did in the case of Iraq.
Condemning the ‘anti-poor policies’ of the World Bank, IMF and other such institutions, the rally appealed to the Islamic and poor states of the third world, including Pakistan, to realize the designs of the West and Zionists and set up usury-free banks and international institutions to extend financial assistance to the poor states.
The resolution also made an appeal specifically to the Muslim countries to have a strong base of economy and science and set up joint institutions for development in these fields in order to conquer the universe through knowledge as ordained by the Holy Quran.
The rally condemned double standard of the United Nations by extending support to the US against Muslims’ freedom movements, particularly in Palestine, Kashmir, Chechenya, and East Timor, in violation of its own manifesto and ethics.
Through other resolutions, the rally demanded implementation of Nizam-i-Mustafa in Pakistan for which the country was created. The rally expressed concern over the western culture’s onslaught on the local society through cable TV and foreign channels.
Calling upon the government to set up separate Auqaf for Sunni sect and appointment of Sunni ulema in the mosques affiliated with Mazars, the rally demanded action against certain corrupt officials who were misappropriating half of the revenues of shrines.
