LAHORE, May 14: The People’s Lawyers Forum at a meeting here on Wednesday termed the LFO a set of unconstitutional acts of military rulers, and demanded its withdrawal.
Through a resolution, the participants said that the unanimously-approved 1973 constitution should be restored in the larger national interest.
Raja Zulqarnain presided over the meeting, which was attended among others by Dr Babar Awan, Sheikh Rafiq, Uzma Bukhari and Mian Hanif Tahir.
The participants regretted that Asif Ali Zardari had been behind bars for the past seven years in connection with what they called fabricated cases.
They demanded that the cases against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari should be withdrawn, and the government should stop harassing its political opponents.
It was decided that the PLF leaders would observe a token hunger strike in Lahore on May 20 to register their protest against victimization.
The PLF also demanded unconditional permission for the return of all important national leaders including Benazir Bhutto to the country.
