MULTAN, May 13: Khanewal police failed to apprehend the alleged culprits who had made three people blind in a village of Kabirwala tehsil on Monday to settle on old score.

Thirteen people had kidnapped Nazir Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad and Muhammad Ramzan when they were working on a thrasher in Bahadurwala village. The kidnappers took them to the dera of Shamshir Ojhala where they pierced daggers into the eyes of the abducted people.

In 1985, Ali Nawaz Ojhala and his accomplice Bashir Khokhar had blinded Shamshir Ojhala alias Shama over an old enmity. Ali Nawaz was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment in 1990. Unsatisfied with the legal remedy, Shamshir and his accomplices had reportedly kidnapped Ali Nawaz’s brothers, Ghulam Qasim and Riaz, in the same year and stabbed blinded them.

Later, a panchayat of Ojhala clan struck a deal between Shama and Ali Nawaz. However, Shama had vowed to teach a lesson to Khokhars for assisting his rival Ali Nawaz.

Victims Bashir and Ramzan are said to be brothers while Nazir is their half-brother. Kabirwala Sadar police registered a case under sections 364, 336 and 148/149 PPC on the report of Bashir’s son against 13 people.

The accused are Shamshir, Ghaffar, Ghulam Muhammad, Iqbal, Mazhar, Iqbal s/o Muhammad Nawaz, Ghazanfar, Tariq, Kaddu, Muhammad Bakhsh, Azam and Falk Sher.

When contacted, Khanewal DPO Dr Jamil said the police had arrested two of the accused while raids were being conducted for the arrest of the remaining 11 culprits.

LLB RESULTS: The Bahauddin Zakariya University has declared the result of LLB (Part-I) first annual examinations, 2002, on Tuesday.

According to the result notification, 2,738 candidates took the examination of whom 1,475 were declared successful showing a pass percentage of 53.98.
