KARACHI, May 26: The PPP leadership is holding consultations and will decide by Wednesday a name for the post of Sindh chief minister.

This was stated on Sunday by PPP leader and MPA-elect Owais Muzaffar while talking to journalists at his residence after a lunch he had hosted for the party’s newly elected MNAs and MPAs.

Prominent among those who attended the lunch were PPP women’s wing president Faryal Talpur, Sindh president Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Naveed Qamar, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar and Nasir Ali Shah.

Mr Muzaffar said the PPP Sindh government would strive to make the province a cradle of peace. He said the policy of reconciliation adopted by the PPP had strengthened democracy and the party would continue to pursue the policy in national interest.

Asked if the PPP was holding talks with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for formation of a coalition government in Sindh, he said his party was in contact with several parties for the purpose.

Former information minister Sherjeel Memon said the PPP had accepted the election results with reservations for the sake of continuation of democratic process. He said different alliances were being formed but the PPP would form its government in Sindh.

He said some parties had always sided with dictators but it was the PPP which had been opposing the dictatorship in all its forms.
