LAHORE, May 14: Accepting responsibility for the defeat of her wife in 2013 general election, PPP leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan says he is ready to resign from the Senate.

Talking to media persons at Lahore High Court on Tuesday, he said, “I will write a letter to my party leadership to seek permission to resign from the Senate following poor performance in the election.”

Mr Ahsan said Mian Nawaz Sharif was a seasoned politician and his experience would benefit the country’s foreign policy during the upcoming withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. Mr Sharif had also the ability to deal with the issue of Taliban, he added.

He said views of Mr Sharif about India were very welcoming.

About polls result, he said more than 100 per cent voting in some constituencies was alarming and the election commission should take notice of the matter.
