MUZAFFARABAD, May 8: The AJK Legislative Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed two laws while another was referred to the select committee following which the session was prorogued indefinitely.
The assembly, which witnessed a rumpus on the two previous sessions after the treasury and opposition benches traded allegations and counter allegations, proceeded in a smooth manner on Thursday after the two sides came to an understanding.
The understanding was arrived at a meeting held in the speaker’s chamber before the commencement of the assembly’s session where they vowed to run the proceedings of the house in a peaceful manner in the larger interest of democracy.
Later, legislators belonging to the two sides delivered reconciliatory speeches pledging to uphold the supremacy of the law.
Revenue minister Chaudhry Tariq Farooq assured the members of the opposition in the AJK assembly that the government would take them along, adding that commitments made by the AJK prime minister would be fulfilled.
