KARACHI, May 7: There will be a ban on movement of heavy traffic in the city during the morning and evening peak hours.

This was decided at a meeting chaired by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan here on Wednesday. DIG Traffic Yamin Malik and transporters also attended the meeting.

The meeting decided that there would be a ban on movement of heavy vehicular traffic from 7am to 9am and from 6 pm to 8.30pm to prevent traffic accidents and to ensure smooth flow of traffic. A three-member committee, headed by the DIG Traffic was also formed to monitor the traffic movement and its impact during the next 15 days.

The committee will later submit its report to the City Nazim.

The decision has been taken in view of traffic bottlenecks which often result in delays and traffic jams on several important city roads.—agencies
