LARKANA, May 3: The district government will distribute Rs15.5 million among deserving girl students.

This was stated by District Nazim Khurshid Junijo while speaking at a ceremony held at the Government Girls High School, Waleed, on Saturday.

He said the financial assistance would be extended to more than 10,000 girls students till their matriculation.

Mr Junijo said the district government was spending Rs82.6 million on distribution of free textbooks among students up to class V.

He called upon heads of schools to properly utilize the School Management Committees funds.

Later, he distributed scholarship cheques among 676 students of two girls high schools.

ARRESTED: The Civil Lines have police arrested four leaders of the Watandost Mazdoor Federation (WDMF) after a dispute surfaced over the ownership of a plot.

The leaders were identified as Aziz Abbasi, Manzoor Ahmad Pathan, Abdul Qadir Malgani and Manzoor Ahmad Aheer.

Two factions of the WDMF are claiming ownership of the land on which a labour hall and certain shops are constructed.

When contacted by this correspondent, the ASP, City, Mohammad Alam Shinwari, said both the parties were called to resolve the matter on Friday but they could not reach at a decision.

On Saturday, the four labour leaders were produced in the court of the fifth judicial magistrate and were sent to the central prison.

EDUCATION: The district Nazim, Larkana, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, the other day asked the education officials to sincerely put in their efforts in laying a strong foundation for primary education.

He urged head masters to spend the huge amount of funds they had been provided under the school management committees and extend support to deserving students.

He warned that if anyone was found indulged in embezzling school management committee funds, he would be punished severely.

Later, the district Nazim visited the examination centres and was unsatisfied with their arrangements.

He suggested that the chairman, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Larkana, immediately replace the external superintendent, Mrs Kazbano, at the Government Girls’ College centre.

He found things unsatisfactory at the Government Degree College.
