Partition
An interactive project exploring stories from 1947

At midnight on August 14-15, 1947, Britain's erstwhile Indian empire split. It was a bloody division. The borders, only announced two days later, slashed through rivers, villages, fields and homes, displacing nearly 14 million people. The violence alone claimed more than a million lives. This project explores partition through the memories of people and places affected by it.

This project explores Partition through the memories of people and places affected by it and will entail 100 eyewitness accounts over the coming months.
