RAWALPINDI, Nov 7: A citizen playing the Good Samaritan drops a box of Laddoos at a checkpost in Chaklala area, on Wednesday night. The officials accept the gift, without identifying the contents of the box.

Later, out of the blue, it dawns upon one policeman to put the box through a metal detector test. When the detector beg-ins to blink and sounds an alarm, it sends everyone in a panic.

The bomb disposal squad equipped with all the US donated gadgetry and high gear arrive and cordon off the area.

According to witnesses, the ordeal lasted for more than 30 minutes. After applying the standard operating procedures required to defuse a bomb, the squad is relieved to find that the box contains nothing else but mouthwatering Laddoos.

When SP Potohar Division Haseeb Hussain Shah was contacted, he confirmed that an unidentified man travelling in a luxury vehicle delivered a sweetmeat box at the picket and later disappeared. When asked whether the police had ‘registered a report’ and started search for the man, he said there was nothing to be investigated; the box only contained Laddoos.— Mohammad Asghar
