THIS is regarding a news item, ‘ATM users: beware of the skimmer’ (Oct 22). It was indeed an interesting and informative read.

It is lamentable that one’s hard-earned money can be stolen in such a way. The incident, which is in fact a reflection of the social turmoil, should ring alarm bells for those at the helm of affairs and those responsible should devise a way to secure and monitor the otherwise safe-looking ATM machines.

If I were a person who had been affected by this, I would also inquire from the bank manager as to how the skimmer kept evading the eye of those filling in cash in the machine and closing the same down for software update, as they do so frequently.
