Muttahida activist held, arms recovered
SUKKUR, June 7: Nadeem Brohi, a former zonal in-charge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jacobabad, has been arrested after law-enforcement agencies allegedly found in his possession a huge quantity of arms and ammunition brought from Balochistan for Karachi.
He has been taken to an unspecified place for interrogation.
Nadeem Brohi was an employee of education department and working as a medical representative. He is accused of having been involved in illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition for some time and police and other agencies reported to be closely watching.
He was arrested after police reported recovering Kalashnikov rifles, rocket launchers, hand grenades and a large quantity of bullets, packed in cartons, from his car. He had come from Balochistan and was proceeding to Karachi.
It is learnt that after interrogation by various agencies, an FIR will be registered against him.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party has alleged that the recovery of large quantity of arms and ammunition from Brohi has proved that the MQM was involved in the killing of innocent people.
In a telephonic talk with journalists of Jacobabad, STP chief Dr Magsi urged the PPP government to expel the MQM from the Sindh coalition.
