APROPOS of persistent media speculation about PPP ex-Senator Enver Baig’s future political moves, it is not surprising that Baig feels the way he does.

A leading party member and close confidant of the late Benazir Bhutto, he is pained to see his party disintegrate as a result of faulty policies being pursued by the party leadership.

It hurts him to see party loyalists and stalwarts sidelined, rampant alleged corruption especially in the power rental sector, people dying for wheat flour and sugar and Gallup polls indicating a deep decline in party popularity.

Most PPP sympathisers would agree with him that unless the party takes drastic corrective measures, it faces a bleak future at the next elections.

The party should give serious thought to these issues.
