CHILDREN’S Day was observed on Nov 20. All children are the apple of their parents’ eye. Parents do as much as they can to give them all the happiness in the world that they possibly can.

I come across extremely intelligent children every now and then, having so much talent while still in their teens. On the other, I have also come across many who seem to be vacuous. To boost up their cognitive abilities, there is dire need to educate them during their upbringing period.

The authorities concerned have to monitor the working of the education department from top to bottom to ensure that everyone is doing his duty honestly and efficiently.

For decades now, the standard of pedagogy has gone down as well. Teachers should be trained and motivated as good teachers are the most valuable asset of a country.

Of late, my little brother Syed Shahzaib Ali, who studies in KG, refuses to go to school, saying that he was scared of a teacher who either scolded him or beat him up whenever he made a mistake.

Teachers should always handle their students, especially the younger lot, with love, care and understanding so that they don’t start having any psychological problems.

Sir Ijaz, who teaches in the Civil Services Academy at the CSS/PCS level in Hyderabad, said: “The flawed education system is only due to teachers’ dearth of interest in providing education to their students.”

I would like to request all teachers to educate children diligently and with love and affection, and to treat them the way they would like their own to be treated, as they are the future of Pakistan.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Water woes
Pakistan can no longer afford to take water for granted; we must say goodbye to our profligate ways.
  • Medical education
The indifference of medical schools can be gauged by the fact that they teach only the basics of medical science.
