Nawaz spurns initial patch-up moves
ANP leader Khwaja Muhammad Khan Hoti, however, would not accept that his meeting with Mr Sharif had anything to do with PML-N’s conflict with the PPP.
“Being an old friend of Nawaz Sharif, I called on him to express solidarity with him over the unfortunate Supreme Court verdict,” he told Dawn after the meeting on Sunday when asked if he carried any proposal for a patch-up.
“The one who has taken the undemocratic step should take the lead in undoing it,” he said when asked what he would suggest for saving the democratic system from getting derailed.
Fareed Toofan, a seasoned politician from the NWFP who had left the ANP years ago, also called on Mr Sharif. Answering a question, he said it was unfortunate that a province with 54 per cent of the country’s population had no assembly of its own, a reference to the governor’s rule in Punjab.
