National Seerat conference today
Prominent ulema and scholars will attend the conference and present papers on the life and teachings of the Prophet (pbuh).
Seerat conferences will also be held at provincial headquarters.
In the federal capital, a 31-gun salute and in provincial headquarters 21-gun salute will be fired at the dawn of the day.
Mosques, streets, major government buildings and private plazas have been illuminated on the occasion.
Messages
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in their messages on the occasion stressed need for seeking guidance from the life and teachings of the Prophet (pbuh).
The president said: “On the auspicious day of the birth of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) today I wish to extend my greetings to every one, particularly to the Muslims throughout the world and in Pakistan.”
“I also pray that Allah guide us on the path illumined by the Prophet (pbuh) with his example and give us the wisdom and the strength to follow his teachings and rekindle our souls with the light lit by him.”
Prime Minister Gilani urged the Ummah to stand united to face the challenges it was confronting. He appealed to the nation to keep an eye on their surroundings and maintain unity in their rank, saying unity was the force that would deter all types of extremist attitudes.—APP
