‘The United States has two parties now — the Obama Party and the Fox (News) Party,’ says a commentator.

Will the black magic man overcome a wave of white hate that can turn into a tsunami and drown him in his own designs to empower the poor, sick and unemployed millions who have no access to healthcare?

A jumbled whole new world of madness, goofballs, racism, hatred, abuse and intolerance, in the name of freedom of speech, has opened before me in America. Had the ‘birthers’ (I’ll tell you in a moment who these scum are) been in Pakistan, they would by now have swelled the ‘missing persons’ list. Our gung-ho intelligence agencies would have done them in. Or our interior czar, Rehman Malik, would have put the kibosh on them as he’s trying to do with SMS messages that ‘insult’ President Zardari. But this is America and you’re free to clapperclaw Obama until it hurts real bad.

You can blackguard the president about his Muslim inheritance. You can call him a ‘communist,’ a ‘Nazi’ or ‘Obama-as-joker.’ You can dig your claws into his African roots in the hope of drawing out black blood. The president and his men are not expected to retaliate. These past three months I’ve been in America, the word ‘birthers’ has gained currency. Birthers are a bunch of white loony men and women who insist that Barack Obama was born in Kenya; is therefore a Kenyan; and hence disqualified from leading the Unites States as its president and supreme commander.

I have great news for the rest of the world: America the ‘Beautiful’ will turn black, brown and off-white around 2030. The whites therefore hate the thought of having a black in the White House today. Nor can they accept a Hispanic woman sit in the highest court of the land, especially when Justice Sonia Sotomayor has said she believed a ‘wise Latina’ would usually make better decisions than a white man! Big changes are afoot in America. Witnessing the gradual makeover is exciting.

President Obama turned 48 on August 4. He’s beginning to look grey, old and tired. People at his town hall meetings are turning up with assault weapons. The law does not forbid open display of arms. Others have put up sickle and hammer (communist) and swastika (Nazi) signs against Obama’s portrait. They accuse him of making America a socialist country just because he wants the whole of America to get health care at the expense of the super-rich. The birthers have ganged up with the lobbyists of health insurance companies and the Republicans to heckle the president because he ‘has yet to prove that he's a (US) citizen.’

A Republican legislator has introduced a bill in Congress that would require a presidential candidate to produce a birth certificate and proposed the bill take effect before 2012, in time to require Obama to produce his birth certificate for re-election. ‘The United States has two parties now — the Obama Party and the Fox (News) Party,’ says a commentator. ‘The Obama Party is larger, but it is unfocused and its troops are whiny. The Fox Party, which shows up en masse to harass politicians is noisy and practised in the art of simplistic obstruction.’

Okay, enough of Obama and his birthers. Let’s go back to the American embassy in Islamabad. Heigh-ho, 1,000-strong US Marine commandoes, a fact certified by our Foreign Office spokesman, are winging their way to Islamabad. Already the CIA has hired the services of the notorious Blackwater security firm now called Xe to load Hellfire missiles and 500-pound laser-guided bombs on the Predator drones in Pakistan. Ambassador Anne Patterson will be the sovereign of all she surveys? No, not so fast. She’ll have stiff competition. Ms Robin Raphel, the first assistant secretary of state for South Asia, is being sent to live in the American embassy in Islamabad which is being refurbished at a whopping one billion dollars!

Remember the US ambassador who perished with Gen Zia in a plane crash? Well he was Arnold Raphel, the former husband of Robin Raphel. They had divorced and the ambassador had married Nancy Ely when the C-130 crash happened. But Ms Raphel was a frequent visitor to our land. She never gave up her husband’s last name despite the divorce, and is known to be a friend of Pakistan. She got a royal welcome whenever she visited Islamabad. She was treated like a princess. President Obama is sending Raphel to co-ordinate US non-military assistance to Pakistan. Raphel and Patterson will soon be handed the ‘Strategic Implementation Plan’ (SIP) for Pakistan and Afghanistan. National Security Adviser James Jones is the author of SIP. He’s drafted it in such a manner that ‘there'll be accountability among departments and agencies, State, Defence and various parts of the intelligence community,’ an official says.

‘Where’s the civilian effort? Where's the economic development effort? What's going on in Pakistan that influences what's going on in Afghanistan? And how about our international partners? What exactly have they ponied up?’ are the kind of questions Obama will pick up the phone and ask his ambassador in Islamabad. Ahead of SIP, set to unveil on September 24, arrived another Obama all-woman-A team-trooper in Islamabad. Her writ: to win over Pakistani media. According to New York Times, Judith McHale, the new under secretary of state for public diplomacy (and more) was told by a blunt journalist over a one-on-one meeting at a hotel in Islamabad, ‘You should know that we (Pakistanis) hate all Americans. From the bottom of our souls, we hate you.’
