KANDAHAR: A suicide bomber killed 21 police in Afghanistan's southern province of Uruzgan on Monday, the provincial police chief said.
The police were inside a compound in Tirin Kot, Uruzgan's provincial capital, when the bomber made his way in and blew up explosives attached to his body, Juma Gul Hemat told Reuters.

'Eight other police have been wounded in the attack which killed 21 police,' he said.

According to Reuters, Monday's blast was the worst attack on the police in recent months in Afghanistan where Taliban-led insurgents have stepped up their suicide strikes and roadside bomb raids against Afghan and foreign forces.
