India to hand over statements of witnesses

NEW DELHI: India will provide to Pakistan copies of the statements of key witnesses recorded before the Mumbai anti-terrorism court during the trial of Ajmal Kasab, APP reported.

The court has allowed the prosecution’s plea for certified copies of the statements and the same would be forwarded to Pakistan within a day or two for use as evidence, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said in Mumbai on Sunday.

He said the statements included the deposition of a magistrate before whom Ajmal Kasab had given a voluntary confession, of foreign nationals and FBI officials and about seizure of articles recovered from Hotels Taj and Oberoi and Nariman House said.
