Pakistan hockey team off to Argentina

LAHORE: The national 18-member hockey team with Captain Zeeshan Ashraf and five officials has left for Salta from the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore to compete in the Challenge Trophy-I, to be held from December 6 to 13.

Besides the players, five officials will accompany them including the team manager Asif Bajwa, Chief coach Shahid Ali Khan, Assistant coach Shafqat Malik, Physiotherapist Faiz Ur Rehman and Video analyst Nadeem Lodhi.

Pakistan is in Pool B with Canada, Argentina and South Africa while Belgium, China, India and New Zealand will play in the Pool A.

The team will play its first match on 6th December against Canada, then against Argentine on the 8th while the team will face South Africa on the 10th.

The classification and semi finals matches will be played on the 12th followed by the final on the 13th of December.

The team that wins this tournament will qualify to play in the next year’s Champions trophy. — DawnNews
