LAHORE: Zeeshan Javed struck two fascinating goals and created another as Wapda gave Army a 5-1 thrashing in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) at Railway Stadium, Lahore, on Monday.

Meanwhile, Navy beat Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 2-1 at the KPT-Benazir Sports Complex, Karachi, while National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) played a 1-1 draw at the Shadab Football Stadium, Karachi.

Arif Mahmood opened the score for Wapda in the fifth minute and Zeeshan made it 2-0 in the 44th.

The second session saw Zeeshan scoring again for Wapda in the 49th minute and Imran Niazi bringing in the fifth in the 51st minute.

Two minutes later, Army pulled one back when Mohammad Imran’s four-metre angular drive went past keeper Abdul Aziz’s fingers. Arif completed the rout in the 89th minute after fine work by Khuda Bakhsh alias Bakhsoo.

Two midfielders —Farhan Qadir and skipper Nomi Martin Gill —were heroes in Navy’s 2-1 win over KPT.

The seamen were 1-0 up at interval through Farhan’s 30th-minute goal and they added another in the 70th minute through international Nomi Martin Gill.

KPT struck their lone goal through left full Akhtar Mamil in the 83rd minute.

PAF and NBP both earned a precious point when they drew 1-1. International stopper Yasir Sabir broke the deadlock in the seventh minute but the airmen equaled in the 58th minute through Afzal-ur-Rehman.

Tuesday fixture: PEL v PMC at MTFA Ground, Lahore, 2.30pm.— Agencies
