Two-goal Farooq helps NBP squeeze past Baloch Club

KARACHI: Two-goal Farooq Shah gave National Bank (NBP) a 2-1 victory over Baloch Club in the Pakistan Premier Football League at Korangi Baloch Stadium on Thursday.

The bankers opened their account in the 51st minute when Farooq slammed home. Farooq got his double in the 60th minute before the losers scored their consolation goal on a penalty kick through Habibullah in the 63rd minute.

Mohammd Rasool’s late equaliser helped KESC force a 1-1 draw with 10-man PIA at DHA Stadium.

After a barren first half, PIA opened the scoring with Zeeshan Ali slotting home in the 64th minute. PIA’s Mohammad Saeed was red-carded in the 79th minute. Rasool cancelled out Zeeshan’s effort in the 83rd minute.

Habib Bank (HBL) outplayed Afghan Club 3-1 at Shadab ground.

Mohammad Ishtiaq grabbed the opening goal for the bankers in the 17th minute, while his teammate Abdullah scored from the spot to net the second in the 42nd.

Afghan Club got their solitary goal seconds before the halftime whistle through Fazlur Rahman. The bankers completed the tally when Bilal Ahmad found the target in the 69th minute.

HBL meet Karachi Port Trust on Saturday.
