Second half strikes give Navy win

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy pumped in two second half goals to squeeze past Habib Bank 3-2 in the Pakistan Premier Football League at Korangi Baloch Stadium on Saturday.

 

The sailors got off to a fine start when Mohammad Asif slotted home in the 11th minute before his effort was cancelled out by HBL’s Bilal Ahmad eight minutes later.

 

Coming back after lemon time, Navy went 3-1 up with two quick goals. Sajjad Khan was on target in the 53rd minute, while his teammate Rizwan found the cage five minutes later.

 

In their last effort, the bankers reduced the margin through Mohammad Habib barely 60 seconds before time.

 

In another match, PIA outplayed PAF 4-2 at Shadab ground.

 

The airmen were taken aback when national carrier hammered in twice within a minute to go 2-0 up. Nadeem Tariq opened the scoring in the eighth minute for PIA, while his teammate Imran Hashmi was on target 60 seconds later.

 

PAF retaliated with a Mohammad Iqbal penalty kick in the 18th minute, but Zeeshan Ali made it 3-1 for PIA with a 42nd-minute strike.

 

Imran Abdullah came into action for his PIA fourth in the 64th minute, while Asif Ahmad goal in the 79th minute.

 

The match between NBP and KESC ended in a 0-0 draw at DHA Stadium.

 

KPT meet Navy, while NBP face PAF on Monday.
