Top women football clubs gear up for national semis

LAHORE: Young Rising Star Women Football Club (YRSWFC) earned another resounding victory in Group ‘D’ to enter the final four of the second National Women Football Club Championship on Tuesday.

 

They now join Karachi's Diya Club, Lahore's Sports Sciences Department of the Punjab University and Balochistan United. YRSWFC is owned by the US Embassy in Pakistan as part of the 2007 State Department Youth Enrichment Programme (YEP) and they won the National Championship in their second attempt a year later.

 

YRSWFC overwhelmed Peshawars Spark FC 10-0 with Sahar Zaman getting a hat-trick, two own goals plus Sana Gul, Asmara Habib, Malaika Noor, Zara Kiyani and skipper Sana Mahmood as the other scorers.

 

Earlier, YRSWFC edged out Suzuki Motors 2-0 and Frontier 5-0
