KARACHI: The chairman of selectors of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Khawaja Saeed Hai has applauded the performance of Aisam-ul-Haq who together with Prakash Amritraj made it to the Wimbledon men’s doubles third round in London before making an exit.

‘Hats off to Aisam for making the country proud again,’ he said on Wednesday.

The veteran Davis Cupper is leaving for Manila in the small hours of Thursday to join Pakistan Davis Cup team in his capacity as manager. Pakistan will be up against hosts Philippines in the second round of Asia Oceania Zone group two tie slated from July 10 to 12.

Aisam, 29, is scheduled to reach Manila from London later this week. Other members of the team brothers - Aqeel Khan, Jalil Khan and Yasir Khan, along with stand bye Jibran Mohammadi will arrive in Manila from Kuala Lumpur by Friday. The team is accompanied by non-playing captain Rashid Malik.

Pakistan team with the exception of Aisam had gone to the Malaysian capital to feature in two ITF Futures to prepare for the Davis Cup clash.

Pakistan had whipped Oman 4-1 in the first round in March this year.
