Sports Sciences topple Young Rising Stars to enter final

ISLAMABAD: Sports Sciences Department of Punjab University reached the final of the fifth National Women Football Championship by defeating Islamabad’s Young Rising Stars FC 2-1 in the first semi-final at the Jinnah Stadium on Sunday.

 

Hira scored the first goal for the winners in the 13th minute. Ayesha doubled the lead in the 22nd minute.

The scoreline was 2-0 at the interval.

 

Sahar Zaman reduced the lead by scoring on a penalty-kick in the 47th minute but could not save her side from defeat.

 

In the other semi-final, Iran's Malavan Bandar Anzali thrashed a strong Wapda side 15-0.

 

The tournaments top goal-scorer, Fereshteh Karimi scored four goals, Sarah Ghomi three, Hajra Shah 3, Nida 2, Mena, Maram Irandost and Fatehmeh scored one goal each.
