Army, KRL score wins to overtake Wapda in PPFL

LAHORE: Army and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) recorded wins in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played at different venues of the country on Friday.

In the Army-Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) clash at the MTFA Ground in Lahore, the score line remained 0-0 throughout the 90 minutes of play with the winning goal coming in the second minute of injury time.

Army’s keeper Jaffar Khan made five good saves that included two good efforts by PEL’s top hit man Asmatullah Khan. The decider was scored by Army’s frontrunner Mohammad Sharif.

In the other match, at Agriculture University Ground, Faisalabad, KRL kept their 19th-minute goal alive till fulltime to seal three full points against PMC Athletico.

Midfielder Mudassar Saeed landed the lone goal of the match with a close-range drive, giving keeper Mohammad Afzal no chance of stopping it.

Both Army and KRL, who started the day one point behind Wapda, have now increased their tally to 41, two points above Wapda (39 points).

Saturday’s fixtures: HBL v Navy at Korangi Baloch Stadium, Karachi; PIA v PAF at Shadab Football Stadium, Karachi; KESC v NBP at DHA Stadium, Karachi. Matches kick off at 2.30pm. —Agencies
