PESHAWAR: The Frontier Corps said on Friday that it would tighten security along the border with Afghanistan by putting an end to informal crossings.

‘All kinds of illegal movement’ along the border, including those at Torkham, would be stopped, a statement by the corps said.

‘Any person coming from or going to Afghanistan will not be allowed to cross the border without legal documents,’ it added.

A security official said arrangements had been made to stop infiltration by militants, without giving details.

‘We have already taken extra security measures and a surveillance system has also been intensified,’ the official said, requesting anonymity. — AFP
