GHALANAI: Sixteen suspected terrorists were killed and 14 others injured when military planes bombed a number of areas in Mohmand tribal region on Monday.

Officials said that militants’ positions in Karna Doezai, Garhi Kandaro and Shamsha areas were attacked. According to them, eight militants were killed and five wounded in Karna Doezai and another five killed and seven injured in Lakaro. Three terrorists were killed in Shamsha area.

A seminary in the area also came under attack. Local people said that two shells landed inside the seminary and another in nearby fields. No casualty was reported.

Local people have started leaving the areas because of mounting tensions and air strikes.

There are reports of fresh contingents of security forces moving towards troubled areas.

In Orakzai agency, air strikes on Sunday destroyed three houses in Kranch and Feroze Khel areas, killing at least four insurgents. Four people, a child among them, were injured when two houses were hit in Feroze Khel and Sultanzai areas of Lower Orakzai.
