SKARDU: PML-Q general secretary Senator Mushahid Hussain has alleged that announcement of colleges and hospitals and other uplift schemes by the acting governor of the Gilgit-Baltistan region before the election was meant to influence the voters. He was addressing a press conference here on Saturday.

He further alleged that the Acting Governor of GB Qamar Zaman Kaira was interfering into the politics of the region, pressurising the government officials to use their influence in favour of PPP candidates. Mr Mushahid appealed to the prime minister to insure fair, transparent and impartial election and to advise the officials to be impartial in the process.

He also alleged that the Benazir Income Support Programme and Pakistan Baitul Maal funds were being misused. He said that their party had done lot of developmental works in the region and hoped that the people would make their candidates successful in the election.

‘PML-Q is intact and strong having bright future. Our previous record is excellent and practical while the other parties’ slogans are just promises which have no surety,’ he said and demanded deployment of army troops at all sensitive poling stations. He also demanded that to insure fair and transparent polling the identity cards of the voters should be kept at the polling stations to avoid casting of double votes.

He informed that party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain along with a delegation will visit Skardu on Sunday to address public meetings at different places in the region.
