PARACHINAR: Eight suspected militants were killed and several others injured as military planes pounded their positions in central Kurram on Monday.

According to sources, the areas which came under the air attack included Chinarak, Spairkot and Ormigai in the east of Parachinar.

According to reports reaching here, a vehicle carrying militants was hit in Khwaidatkhel, leaving eight occupants dead.

The sources said that the banned Tahreek-i-Taliban had shifted its weapons and other material to Orakzai and central Kurram before the start of military operation in South Waziristan.

They said people in central Kurram had started fleeing their homes because of the movement of militants.

Displaced families were seen heading towards Hangu and Kohat districts. Some displaced families are reported to have reached Bagun town in Lower Kurram.
