ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has assured Balochistan leaders that the government will soon launch a comprehensive plan for the province, focussing on administrative, constitutional, political and financial reforms to redress the grievances of its people.
Talking to a delegation led by Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani here on Friday, he said the Parliamentary Committee on Balochistan led by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani had incorporated in its report suggestions of all stakeholders and proposals of all previous committees.
The prime minister said funds would be provided for development of the province and for providing basic amenities to its people.
Mr Raisani briefed the prime minister on proceedings of the National Finance Commission and expressed satisfaction over its progress.
He also presented to the prime minister a resolution adopted by the Balochistan assembly, demanding bullet-proof vehicles for all its members so that they could move freely among the masses.
It referred to the state of security in the province and the need for public representatives to have constant contact with the people at this critical time.
The meeting offered fateha for provincial education minister Shafiq Ahmed Khan who was killed in Quetta last week.
The prime minister said protection of life and property of the people was the government’s top priority and the interior ministry had been given clear directives in this regard.
He ordered the finance and interior ministries to facilitate import of bullet-proof cars for those feeling threatened.
