Military pounds militant positions in South Waziristan

WANA: Security forces pounded suspected militant positions in the Mehsud area of the South Waziristan tribal region on Friday amid displacement from the area, sources said.

Local people said that troops fired artillery from Manzai and Jandola forts throughout the day and hit suspected positions. They said that several locations in Kotki, Cheg Malai and Spinkai Raghzai areas inhabited by Mehsud tribesmen. No loss of life has been reported.

Sources said that security forces had started shelling after bomb explosion in Frontier Region Jandola on Thursday which left five people dead. Local people have started evacuation after artillery shelling. All main roads in the volatile area had been blocked.

Meanwhile, four unidentified bodies have been recovered from different parts of Frontier Region Jandola on Friday. Local people said that two bodies were found near the main road in Khergai area and two more were lying in Toor Pul.
