Fifteen militants killed in Swat valley

PESHAWAR: Troops killed 15 militants in Swat on Wednesday.

‘Fifteen miscreants were killed during a search-and-cordon operation,’ the military said in a statement. A large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was seized during raids, it said. — AFP

Our Correspondent in Mingora adds: According to the ISPR, 19 militants surrendered in Sarsenai, Shah Dhand Banda, Bar Shor, Galoch and Kala Kalley.

Another 11 suspects were arrested in Dosra Banda, Bar Thana, Nalkot, Bagh Dheri and Rahat Kot.

Security forces blew up five houses of suspected militants in Manglawar. The forces had earlier declared the area clear of militants.

A bomb placed on a road near the Fizagat tourist resort on the outskirts of Mingora was defused.

A jirga of Bar Kabalgrami near Shangla handed over a militant to security forces.

In Kokrai area of Saidu Sharif, three militants were killed in a clash after an attack on a police vehicle.

Six grenades, a Kalashnikov, a rifle and a pistol were seized.
