PARACHINAR: MNA Sajid Hussain Turi has said that operation against miscreants is imperative in the Kurram tribal region and tribesmen will fully support government action.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that government and elders had utilised all options to maintain peace in the area.

He said that elders being facilitated by the government had been negotiating for the last three years and several agreements were signed, but in vain.

‘Military operation is the last option and government should not delay action against miscreants,’ he said. He said that militants were major hurdle in restoration of peace in the region and they had made local people hostage.

Sajid Turi said he had informed the president and prime minister about the deteriorating situation in Kurram and urged them to take serious measures.

He said that local populations had suffered socially and economically because of violence and closure of road. In case of fair military action, he said, tribesmen would support government.
