KARACHI: Nawabzada Jamil Bugti, son of slain Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti, said on Wednesday that his father was offered a safe passage to Europe by Mushahid Hussain and Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain before the start of a military operation.
Jamil Bugti claimed he was present during the meeting his late father held with the two PML-Q leaders and said that both politicians visited Bugti to mediate but had no mandate to carry on talks with Akbar Bugti.
‘Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain offered my father a safe passage to Europe while he was ill,’ Jamil Bugti said while speaking to DawnNews, adding that security forces moved from Sui to Dera Bugti during the talks.
Jamil Bugti filed a petition in the Sibbi Dsitrict and Sessions Court on Tuesday against the assassination of his father on August 26, 2007 and named former president Pervez Musharraf and then interior minister Aftab Sherpao in his petition.
‘The re-instatement of the judiciary has rekindled my hope for justice,’ Jamil said.
Dispelling Mushahid Hussain’s claims that Nawab Bugti had asked the military to protect gas installments in Sui, Jamil said Bugti never wanted any military cantonment in Balochistan and that the claims were not true.
