PESHAWAR: Following the bomb blast, police blocked most of the roads in city and cantonment areas creating problems for motorists.
The main roads at Khyber Bazaar were closed by placing barbed wire at Suekarno Chowk and Bajauri Gate and people were not allowed to move towards Qissa Khwani Bazaar.
Similarly, Ashraf, Ghanta Ghar, hospital, cinema roads were also blocked, which led to inconvenience to residents of the area and those who wanted to search for their relatives at the blast site.
U-turns on all roads were also closed and people had to turn at signal intersections, leading to traffic congestion.
Vehicles parked along the Mall Road and at parking lots were removed through forklift trucks. A traffic police official said there was a possibility of another blast in the city and removal of the vehicles was a compulsion.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said 21 suspected persons were arrested during checking in different areas and weapons were recovered from them.
He said 48 Afghan nationals had been arrested for staying here without valid documents.
He said 18 people were also arrested for pillion riding, which had been banned in the city.
