LAHORE: The Punjab government has challenged the Lahore High Court’s earlier decision to release banned organisation Jamaatud Dawa’s chief Hafiz Saeed at the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry, DawnNews reported.

Hafiz Saeed was released after the Lahore High Court ruled that he cannot be kept under house arrest without enough evidence against him.

He was placed under house arrest after the UNSC resolution banned Jamaatud Dawa, the organisation Saeed heads.

India and the United States have been demanding that Hafiz Saeed be taken to task for his alleged involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks.
