QUETTA: A wheel-jam and shutter down strike was observed in several districts of Balochistan on the call of the Baloch National Front to protest against the British government for filing cases against Nawabzada Hairbiyar Marri and Faiz Baloch and demanded that the London police withdraw the cases.
BNF spokesman Dr Bashir Azim talking to newsmen on Tuesday claimed that the strike call received encouraging response from the Baloch people as the strike was observed in Naushki, Dalbandin, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Kharan, Panjgur, Turbat and Sibi, wherein in Dera Murad Jamali and Dera Allahyar only a shutter down strike was observed.
He conceded that a partial strike was observed in Quetta as shops on Sariab raod, Joint road, Brewery road, Hudda bazar and Shahbaz town suburb of the city remained closed but government and private vehicles were still on the move in the provincial capital.
Dr Bashir asserted that a wheel-jam strike was not successful in Dera Murad Jamali and Dera Allahyar as police had arrested dozens of BNF activists after firing on passenger trains four days ago in these areas.
The BNF leader stated that the Baloch people will continue the struggle against the usurpers that were looting the resources of the Baloch land and added that the British government must withdraw the cases against Hairbiyar Marri and Faiz Baloch.
He said military operation or arrests could not suppress the political movement that was aimed to achieve national rights and protect the coast and the resources of Balochistan.
