QUETTA: A landmine blast killed four tribesmen and injured ten others Friday in southwestern Pakistan, where ethnic Baloch militants are waging a low-level insurgency, an official said.
The victims' vehicle hit a landmine believed to have been planted by militants in the town of Dera Bugti in Balochistan province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, a spokesman for the local paramilitary force said.
'Four people died and ten others were injured in the explosion,' he said.
The Baloch Republican Army claimed responsibility for the attack and said those targeted were people supporting the government.
Hundreds of people have died in violence in the gas-rich province since the insurgency flared in late 2004, with militants demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the region's natural resources.
Balochistan has also been hit by attacks blamed on Taliban militants and sectarian extremists.
