QUETTA: Four people were injured when a bomb exploded in a cafe in the busy Liaquat bazaar here on Tuesday, and the women’s wing of the Baloch Republican Army claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to police, the bomb planted in the cafe went off at about 1.30pm, destroying the building and shattering windowpanes of nearby shops.

The injured were taken to the civil hospital where the condition of one of them was critical.

A woman who identified herself as Gohar Bibi and claimed to be spokesperson for the women’s wing of the Baloch Republican Army, told reporters on phone from an unspecified place that her group had carried out the blast.

Meanwhile, two gas pipelines were blown up in the Pir Koh gas field. Large portions of the pipelines supplying gas to the main purification plant in Sui were damaged.
