QUETTA: A strike was observed in Quetta and several other district headquarters of the province on Friday on the call of the Balochistan National Party-M to condemn the killings of Baloch political activists allegedly by intelligence agencies.
In Quetta, markets remained closed on Jinnah Road, Shahrah-i- Iqbal, Mission Road, Zarghoon Road, Sariab Road, Brewery Road and in Liaquat and Surajganj bazaars and Shahbaz Town. However, the strike did not affect government offices, schools and traffic.
BNP-M secretary general Habib Jalib Baloch told newsmen that strike was also observed in Nushki, Dalbandin, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Kharan, Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Hub, Awaran, Mach, Sibi, Dera Murad Jamali and Dera Allahyar.
He said the strike had been observed in protest against the killing of Zahid Hussain Baloch in Karachi, the Turbat incident and the murders of Nawab Bugti and Balaach Marri.
He accused the Pakistan People’s Party government of intensifying military operation and arresting Baloch political workers. He said the government would fail, like the Musharraf regime, to suppress the political movement in Balochistan.
