ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Registrar Faqir Hussain announced the new National Judicial Policy on Monday, DawnNews reported.

The policy aims to ensure speedy justice, eliminate corruption and ensure independence of the judiciary, Hussain said, adding that a special cell will be set up to eliminate corruption from the judiciary and no chief justice or superior court judge will accept any public office or the charge of acting governor.

He revealed that around 1.5 million cases are pending in courts, of which over 19,000 cases are to be decided by the Supreme Court and the high courts.

The nation will feel a positive change in courts under the new policy, the registrar said.
