KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, who met President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad and returned on Wednesday evening, left for Dubai the same night to participate in the talks to be held between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Pakistan People’s Party.
The PPP and the MQM developed differences over the National Reconciliation Ordinance issue when MQM chief Altaf Hussain in an interview to a private TV channel advised President Zardari to give sacrifice and save the democratic system from derailment.
The Wednesday meeting between the governor and the president is being described by analysts as a damage-control measure.
The Dubai meeting is also stated to be another attempt to dispel misunderstanding between the coalition partners.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro took the oath as acting governor on Thursday evening.
Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Justice Mushir Alam administered the oath to him at a simple ceremony held at the Governor’s House.
