ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the PPP will not field candidates against the PML-N in the upcoming by polls.

‘If PML-N contests by polls in NA-55 and NA-123 then PPP will not bring its candidates against PML-N candidates,’ said the president during consultations with the senior leadership of the PPP on Thursday.

The president was of the view that the PML-N had joined hands with the PPP for the restoration of democratic order in the country. ‘We still consider them our allies and take them on board in all matters of national importance,’ he remarked.

‘We are pursuing the politics of reconciliation from the very first day and we don’t believe in the politics of revenge as the people have mandated us only to address the problems facing them. We don’t want to use this mandate to take revenge for the excesses perpetrated on us in the past,’ he underlined.

PPP would follow the charter of democracy in true letter and spirit, announced President Zardari.—Online
