ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has decided to introduce Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari into politics based on strong recommendations from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members.

Sources from PPP say that the decision is aimed at presenting Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari as a successor to former premier Benazir Bhutto and to compete with Fatima Bhutto in the national political sphere.

Sources further informed that during the meeting President Asif Ali Zardari also pointed out to the participants that Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari was also taking keen interest in politics, on which participants of the meeting backed the President’s idea.

Bakhtawar is the second child of Benazir Bhutto and her eldest daughter, preceded by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and followed by Asifa Bhutto-Zardari. Although Bakhtawar has not outwardly expressed her desire to enter politics, she has vowed to continue her ‘mother’s fight’ in any way she can and has shown interest in playing an active role in the party.

Bakhtawar has previously been involved in Pakistani politics as the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s women’s wing.

Benazir’s eldest daughter also attracted a lot of attention for the rap song that she released over the internet in a video tribute to express her anguish over her mother’s death. Following are some quotes from that song.

‘You have beauty and intelligence, everything you did relevant. Shot in the back of your ear, so young in 54th year, murdered with three kids left behind, a hopeless nation without you, you are in all their hearts.’
