LAHORE: Former Supreme Court Bar Association president Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said that there is no link between National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and impeachment of President Asif Ali Zardari.
 
He was talking to media at the launching ceremony of a book written by Peer Mukaramul Haq here on Saturday.

Replying to media queries, Mr Aitzaz said President Zardari had no threat as he enjoyed legal immunity under article 248 of the Constitution.

He further said the cases annulled under the NRO would reopen after the lapse of the ordinance.

‘If political parties showed tolerance Karachi could become Dubai or Hong Kong,’ he said.

Refusing to disclose the details of his recent meetings with President and Prime Minister, Barrister Aitzaz said the meetings were of private nature.
