LAHORE: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that all apprehensions about the United States’ Enhancement of Partnership with Pakistan Act, 2009, (Kerry-Lugar bill) have been removed through an open house debate and $7.5 billion provided under the law was not a loan but a grant that would revolutionise the social sector in the country.

Talking to Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, whom he met for an hour here on Saturday, the foreign minister said that no compromise would ever be made on the solidarity of Pakistan.

On the occasion, Governor Taseer said the ministry of foreign affairs had portrayed a positive image of Pakistan by countering negative propaganda by strong arguments and lobbying.

He lauded the role of the ministry in promoting bilateral ties with the world in a period of only 18 months after the Pakistan People’s Party came into power.

Terming the foreign policy a great victory of the PPP government, he said world powers were supporting Pakistan's viewpoint and providing financial assistance to it.

‘I congratulate Foreign Minister Qureshi and his team on achieving great successes on the diplomatic front under the dynamic leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani,’ Taseer added.
